About Julie Sheehan
In addition to being a psychologist, I am also a licensed clinical social worker. My experience includes 25 years in the field, as well as 25 years as a professor at the University of Denver and Regis University combined. I have taught at each level from undergraduate to doctoral students and have written curriculum for both universities. I have advanced certifications in Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), which I have been providing since 2005, as well as in Jungian dream work.
My therapeutic style is very personable, non-judgmental, and academically sound. I utilize a mix of CBT skills and tools, EMDR, along with the existential practices of looking at where you’ve been, where you are now, and what you would like to move toward in your life. I also employ a compassionate, straight-forward approach in talk therapy. My Ph.D. studies included working with the conscious and unconscious material of psyche and encompassed the work of Carl Jung and many other masters in the field.
I have raised children through all the developmental stages to adulthood, I swim nearly every day, I love spending time in our beautiful mountains, and I am a gardener, and composer. I enjoy watching good movies, and I love to cook and host dinners for family and friends.
